Board of Trustees

Steve Briganti
Butler University – Board of Trustees
Jordan Hall - 101
4600 Sunset Avenue
Indianapolis, Ind. 46208

Dear Sir :

I was intrigued by an article in a recent Butler Collegian about your difficulties in finding a replacement for President Geoffrey Bannister.  I have been seeking just such an opportunity as this, and I think my background and your requirements may be a good match. My resume is enclosed for your review.

Of particular note for you and the members of your team as you consider this very important placement are my strong accomplishments and a commitment to providing Indianapolis and the world with a quality education in a diverse environment, achieving improved operating efficiency internally and improved cashflow for the institution as a whole.

Consider the following:

bullet Worked extensively with generous benefactors of Tennessee Democratic Victory ’96 and Clinton/Gore ’96.
bulletSecondary schooled in an environment that fostered the finest education in the city with Nashville’s most diverse student population.
bulletAdept at connecting with students, faculty, staff, donors, alumni, friends of the university, the media, and Indianapolis.

Even though America’s youth are among those leading the Silicon Valley revolution, my status as a student and president of Butler University would bring untold amounts of positive publicity to our school.  Administrators around the world would admire the choice of a candidate that most accurately reflects the kind of student the university is trying to serve.

If you are seeking a president who is in touch with today’s student-consumer, who understands technology, who can raise the funds essential to today’s university, who can earn 100% staff support, who knows that quality and diversity in higher education are not mutually exclusive, and who is as career-committed as it takes to achieve total success, then please consider what I have to offer.  I strongly urge you to take this matter seriously and I would be more than happy to have a preliminary discussion with you or members of the board and the search committee to see if we can establish a mutual interest. I look forward to answer any questions you may have, and to hear about your hiring process.

Thank you for your attention to these materials. I certainly look forward to exploring this further.

Yours truly,

Kenneth J. DeGraff
